Heard that you can reduce cooling and heat leakage by sealing can lights in your 2nd floor ceiling. What's the best way to do that? I could lift the ring from the ceiling and caulk under that, but not sure that's the way to go. Any ideas?

If you are looking to add insulation then they need to be IC rated
Usually a gasket i sused on the trim rings
But of the can isn't sealed above sealing the trim ring won't do much
IF it is an open ring & does not have glass on it

I'll check to see if the cans are IC rated. I hope they are - they are covered with cellulose insulation in the attic.

Do you buy the gaskets?

I would think they seel the gaskets seperate
The only one I have with a gasket is for the steam shower
