I'm in the process of installing Hardiplank (FCB) lapsiding over my LP siding which is starting to show signs of deterioration. I'm following all the manufacturer's recommendations but can't find anything regarding shrinkage=dimensional stability in sub-freezing temperatures.
I know the material moves less than wood when it comes to temperature extremes but lately we've had low temps in the single digits in some areas of the NW.
Anybody know whether it's safe to go ahead with the installation using the manufacturer's recommendations for gaps (eg between the trim and the siding). Temperatures can easily go over 100 in the summer so we're talking about a substantial delta between hot and cold.
