I have an old copper porch roof which is covered with a black coating (I don't think it's paint but I could be wrong). Picture below.

The seams are cracked and corroded, and it's causing a nasty leak onto our front porch. (Close-up picture below)

It may be a few years before we can afford to hire someone for a permanent fix (also, we share the roof with the neighboring house which is currently unoccupied).

What can I (a relative newbie) do to temporarily stop the leak and make the roof a bit more aesthetically pleasing?

My instinct is to cover the seams with some metal roof sealing tape and then paint the whole thing black. Or maybe there's some kind of caulk/sealant for this?

Any step-by-step advice would be appreciated. (As well as insight into what exactly my roof-type is called, so I can research it better).

Thanks
