We're soon to close on a house that has 4 rooms with painted wood floors. We'll have 2 weeks between closing and moving in which to complete the job, but the two weekends in that time will be full for us, and we're complete amateurs. Contemplating hiring a pro for the sanding part...I read that their equipment is better than what can be rented, and with the floors being painted, we would end up spending a lot on sandpaper and stuff anyway. Plus I don't want to ruin our floors. Thoughts? Anyone have a clue how much it might be to pay someone to do this? I realize it could vary greatly and we'll have to get some bids, but just looking for a very rough idea. About 700 square feet, by my calculations.
