Hey everyone,

I am having trouble with the chain that goes from the lever to the flapper valve on my toilet. The problem is it always gets wrapped around itself and the flap stays open, thus water runs until I realize its running and fix the chain. I have tried taking all the slack out, putting some slack back in it, but it still gets caught up. What should I do with this thing its driving me nuts!

Thanks for any advise in advance! :D

Adjust the chain starting at the flapper to where the flapper "just" seals. Then cut off the excess at the handle lever or wrap it around the lever to keep it out of the way.

I've found that the place the lever arm pulls on the chain is important too. Try moving it along the length of the arm and drill a new hole if necessary.

Thanks for the responses. I have tried about everything I could think of with the chain, except for moving it on the lever. I will give it a try! Thanks!
