Hi Guys

I have a question about my water heater, there is nothing wrong with it and am not having any problems just a curious question.

You know how there are two lines at the heater ( one for cold water going in and another for hot water coming out)

I have noticed that when I feel the cold water line its cold to the touch as the water goes into the tank but after a while it feels warm too?? why is that? is it just residual heat from the heater? I juts happen to notice that before.

Thanks

Jeremy

When there is no water being used, the dip tub will warm up to the temp of the tank. And if left for some time pipes will will conduct heat some distanse up the cold water line.

Thanks Neal

Yeah it only feels warm up a few inches on the cold water line when the hot water hasnt been used for a while. Thanks for clearing that up.
