I recently purchased a home and the garage has a hose attachment preseumedly so you can wash the car in the winter. I've noticed that there's (what I can only assume is) light water damage on the surface of the plywood around the entire room (looks like splash marks and such.)

My question is, it's mostly black. Almost like it was stained.

Without seeing a photo, is that likely mold and should I do something about it? (Perhaps I should try and get some photos!)

Probably no worries. Just put some bleach on a q-tip and rub it across the spot. If the spot goes away its mold. If its still there then its dirt. Either way, sounds like its not caused by constant moisture and may just be able to be cleaned if it bugs you. Dirt and mold will have different techniques for cleaning.
