I have a Southwind model 434369 52" ceiling fan which is several years old. Today I discovered that the fan and light dimming stopped working while I can still turn the light on and off.

First I thought that the remote needs a new battery or is broken. But when I tried to turn the fan on by pulling the chain on the fan itself, nothing happened. I could switch the light on and off by pulling the other chain.

Is this a common problem? What's wrong and how can this be fixed?

Thank you for any info!

UPDATE: Problem solved! After reading up some web postings, I checked the dip switches in the remote (transmitter). Switch #2 was off. I must have accidentally flipped it when I was replacing the battery. After I flipped it on (so all 4 are on), both the dimmer and fan started working again!
