I went to HD and have bought by mistake (2X yet--urgh!) R30 cans which for all purposes appear to look like R40s. I heard there is a big energy saving effort going--is the absence part of this? I have 15 other R40s already in the house so I'd like to match the light dia./style as well as the baffle and ring. Thanks.

Halo H7 (non-ICT) series cans are rated for trims that use R40's. You cannot use an IC rated can since R40 lamps will protrude well past the ceiling.

Halo's 410P trim is for an R40 lamp.
The 310P trim is for an R30.

I think the juno ic1 or ic2, one of them is a 6" can rated for 150 watts or so. Will accept a straight white baffle and r40. Good luck.......

Thanks, guys. I saw that the new construction cans will accommodate R40s but the remodel styles won't... Kind of a moot point now finding R40s as my wife just informed me she likes the R30 310Ps better anyway, LOL!
