Hello, all!
well, we are about to make the plunge and buy and renovate yet another house. This one has some painted brick (interior sunroom) that I would love to stain or antique or something--not just paint a different color. It is glaring totally white. Is there a stain I could put over it to tone it down? Stripping it is out of the question, not worth all the effort. But it does glare--any suggestions? Thanks so much!

welcome SuzyQOrchids:
About all you can do is use a solid color stain which will tone the glare down and make a pleasing color. Check with the big box stores or Wal-Mart. I'm right along with you; I don't think brick should ever be painted, varnish maybe but no paint.
