My split unit heat pump run fine for a day or two then it stops cooling and goes into retard,I will turn it off and turn it back on and it runs fine for a few more days and goes out again..any idea what the problem is..I'm thinking reversing valve...
 
Mine was a new unit and after several months and even more service calls it was noticed that the compressor turning on was excessively loud. They installed an additional starter and that solved the problem.
