Masonry side of fireplace needs repair

Hi I have a fireplace issue, removed ugly trim to find uneven brick and large gaps between fireplace and wall, fireplace is at an odd angle so not sure how to fix, I have two pics in attachments. Not sure how to proceed

Welcome to the site.
It look like who ever did the work intended for a molding to be there. And an odd angle would dictate some one had to make up some molding.
We can imagine what you were hoping for, what will you settle for now.
 
You have several product options, moulding as mentioned, tile or any of the masonry veneers available, or there are masonry caulks as well.

Aesthetics will be a concern and use of most of the masonry products will likely result in mismatched grout.
