Our house is 30 years old and we have a sunken den with dark paneling and a fireplace we never use. We were thinking about replacing the paneling with sheetrock to lighten up the room and would like to cover the fireplace as well. What is the best method to cover a brick fireplace with sheetrock? Also, what size sheetrock should we use.

Welcome Dufferkt:
You may want to wedge 2 or 3 framing members in the opening and attach 1/2" drywall to it while gluing it to the brick at the same time.
