I was thinking about opening up the kitchen to the living room, supporting the house construction with some beam and demo the 3 column in the living room. I was also planning to close one of the windows and put cabinets up there. The idea is to make the whole kitchen more contemporary (everything on 1 side of the wall) and build a bar.

Would I be messing with house construction too much ? The whole project varies between 13K and 18K.. This is not a flip house. I plan to live here for a while, at the same time I would like to have a more contemporary layout. What do you think about it ? I welcome all the suggestions

You need to open some walls up before you can be sure. Then you may need an engineer.
This is not one of those cop out answers, it's just not something we can answer in a post.
But we can help in other areas.:)

Nice house.:D
