Hello all,

We finish raising the floor in our sunroom project. Now, after laying the subfloor (we use tongue and groove plywood, we are thinking about putting down an underlayment before the finish flooring. We have not yet purchased the flooring, but are going to get linoleum tiles. So, what type of underlayment would be ideal of this application? The sunroom is on a concrete slab, the floor was raised and is insulated using insulation boards. Part of the floor was raised 8", with 2" insulation and part was raised only 2" with the same amount of insulation. (Sorry if this is way more detail than needed)

Thanks for your help. Be well

Miriam

Hello Miriam,

Consider matching the underlayment to the flooring product you are using. The flooring box should have preparation and installation instructions that specify underlayment preparation.

Lauan 1/4" 4x8 is often used with filler used over all nail heads and at all joints but this may not be what you need for your application.

If were talking about Sticky Tiles you can put them directly onto the plywood but personaly I would use a real plywood underlayment board smooth on one side. Those tiles work best applied to a smooth surface
