Purchased a house built in 1989 and have many renos to do. ( Lovely California ceilings, gold light fixtures, pink carpet, tacky bathrooms and kitchen, everything in this place needs to go!) Excited to get some more great advice from all of you as we start the challenge of remodeling our home!

Best advice, do one area at a time. Any more then that and nothing get finished and you get discouraged.
Make 100 % sure the outside items like roof, foundation, insulation, siding, windows, and doors get maintained first.
All the fufu inside stuff will be there tomorrow to do but if you let the outside go the curb appael will go done and the inside will suffer.
It cracks me up when I've been in older home and the home owner says they can not afford new windows and insulation in the attic because they just spent $10,000 on a new kitchen.
There was 0 insulation in there attic, missing shingles and a leaking roof, there was even missing panes of glass in the attic windows, old poor condition single pane glass windows, but the wife just had to have new cabinets.
