Just want to make sure that putting 3-4 coats over ceiling drywall won't cause any sag. Current surface has too many bad drywall lumps for my taste. Looks like bad drywall job on the joints.
I have done similar thing on my previous house where the popcorn was hard like a rock over plastered (I scrapped as much of the popcorn out). I skimmed coat joint compound and then a few coats of topping compound.
