Seems no one has any decks to post...
Try your library, or the the boxs stores for a good book.
Us Guy's just love browsing the pictures:D

I am starting to build a deck 3-4 feet off the ground coming out from a slider door on a rancher house. As soon as it is done (3-4 weeks) I will post some pictures.

Audry,
I don't know how high you are talking about but there are some deck pics on my web site. It is in my signature.

TX I know this was a very old post but I just saw it. I built this a few years ago and honestly don't remember the figures for the materials. It was built on deck blocks no pilings. If I remember correctly is was 18' so there were 2x6 joists, 1 x 6 tops and standard 4x4 rail posts and 2x2 balusters. It took me 2 and a half days 20 hrs. Thats after having a 30 foot tree removed.

Hi Audery

If door is flush with the ground a patio is normally used which most of the time is cheaper and more functional..

I have never seen a deck that you had to step up to connected to the house that didnt look out of place.

If you like the look of a wooden deck it is normally off the the side of a patio a gazebo would add a nice wooden look to a patio.

Hope that helps
