When I last looked at my Slippery Roof post there was an ad on the page that took me here:

http://www.coolroofstore.net/outer-islands/?gclid=CM7zhImw79UCFRKOfgodVjUJGw.

I was immediately drawn to the "NXT Cool Coat".

A while back I tried looking into refinishing our roof when I thought the alge was the finish wearing off the metal panels. The coating actually appears to be in fairly good condition, except for along the edges where rust has begun because the edged were not treated after cutting the panels to size.
I will make a closer inspection of the condition of the roof's surface as I clean the alge from it.

Our roof is used to supply our water catchment system for our household use.
Finding a "food grade" metal roof finish proved to be very difficult to do.
I did find a white elastomeric coating that would meet the usage needs, but didn't meet our needs or expectations. So, the idea was allowed to slip into oblivion. Plus, it was alge not the finish wearing off.

To begin the exploration again, I first need to look into getting the rust stopped and covered to prepare for refinishing.

What methods will effectively do this?
