I have never seen the tool for holding them. That could have made them easier to use but still would be slow.

I've used split-bolts before but, I would never consider these over a wirenut that will fit.
Too involved, time is money$
 
You would think after 70 years they would have updated the set screw. Junk, you will loose the tool and then drive the screw driver thru the finger.
 
The newer ones I have seen in Canada have green square drive instead of the slot. Stabbing yourself was always a hazard of using those.
 
I can't believe they actually still sell those.
I've ripped out hundreds over the years, saved a few for laughs, always wound up throwing them away.
 
Well that’s enough pro help to convince me not to buy a box and try them out.

I’m surprised I have never seen them around here. Must have never been available.
