Hello! Can anyone advise if installing a sprinkler system is difficult, or can the average handy-type-man do it? We only want it in the front yard, which isn't really all that large, perhaps 800 sq ft. Also, approximate costs would be great. We live in the "great white north", so consideration as to the plumbing would have to be taken into account. Thanks in advance!!

The sprinkler system should be a rather simple DIY project. Our local code calls for a vacum breaker at least 1' above the highest point of the system and it may be possible to arrange the system so the lowest sprinkler could drain the whole system. With the vacum breaker indoors will then prevent any freeze damage.
