I have a sump pump in my basement that was working fine until last week. The motor hums, but the propeller won't spin and there is no suction. I took it apart and the pipe that connects the prop to the motor end is tapered at the end of the motor. Should the pipe be the same width throughout and fit snug into the top? Does this mean it wore down?

You can try to repair it, however buying a new one ...that works...is a better idea. When you need it most, you want it to be at it's best.

Seen to many rigged up pumps that fail, then they get to call the fire dept to pump out the basement.

New pump,125
Repair basement, replace belongings, clean out....1000's.

sleep during rainstorm....comfy.
:2cents:

I didn't realize that the fire dept. would pump out a flooded basement. I suspect I've never heard of that due to the cost versus someone just pumping it out themselves.
Interesting.

Get a new Zoeller submersible pump!
Thats what I would do!
