A question about insulation and HardiPanel siding

I framed in a small add on. 2x4 framing.
Can I just attack ridged insulation directly onto the joists,tape the seams. Then install hardipanel to the ridged insulation? Or will there be to much "squish"?
 
#1, What's your location? Yes it does matter, EG; no way in CA.
By doing it that way the wall would have no shear strength. Need at a minimum to have OSB or Plywood in the outside corners.
Someone could just walk up and with one kick bust the wall out.
If you do not have a real siding nail gun bet your going to breaking some pieces trying to nail it..
 
Sheeting That's what I need! So that over the studs then a house wrap. Last the siding and on the interior wall some roll in insulation?
 
Framed with a roof on. No doors or windows hung.
