I had a roof installed recently and have a question about starter shingles. The roofer nailed the starter shingles 5" up from the eves. That seems too high. When I asked him about it, he said he didn't want to nail into the drip edge. Seems wrong to me. Shouldn't the starter course be nailed as close as possible to the eves?
Thanks

No, the starter should have a seal strip along the bottom to secure the bottom edge. Hopefully he used a true starter shingle.
