Hi all. I bought some new door knobs and matching deadbolts for my mother-in-laws house she just moved in to. The doors are exterior steel doors and are standard size, but when I inserted the new latches into the door the amount of latch sticking out of the door was less than the old latches. Are these things adjustable or did I just buy the wrong door knob?

Thanks for any advise!

Some are adjustable and some are not. Usually, you twist the latch end or just give them a firm pull or push and they will lengthen or shorten depending.

Thanks for the response. You are right it is adjustable......had to get a couple tiny screwdrivers in there and pry out on a couple of tabs while trying to pull on the latch. What a pain! But now it fits correctly. Thanks again! :)
