So the fan motor in my condensor unit started squealing like a loose fan belt last night. It was 10 pm so i went out and sprayed her down with WD-40 and she quieted up. Is my fan toast or are they serviceable? It is an AO Smith motor? Other then last night it has never let me down, it has worked all day with no problems. I run my AC 24/7 here in the desert.

The bearings are shot, replace the motor and don't bother trying to repair it.
They are expensive and you can expect to pay around $250-300 for new one..

While you have it open, remember to replace the capacitor too. This is a fun video to help you ...

Sometimes a new motor will come with a new cap.
Ask when ordering so you'll know if you need to order the cap too.

Hopefully it will hold out until Monday or so when i can get around to it.
