I am finishing basement, in the bath, the plumber left very little gap under the toilet flange for tile. the tile will fit under if forced a little, once thinset is down I'm not sure what will fit or not. Is it ok to not put the tile under the flanger and just around (i.e cut a circle in the tile) ?? Will the wax seal still be tall enough?

Thanks in advance!

John

you should be fine with cutting the tile. You may want to put something under the flange just becuz.
Nowadays, they have several different thicknesses of wax rings, and even one that has the wax enclosed in a plastic skin so that you can adjust the toilet once you put it down. You should have no problem there either.

I'll add my review here; it worked very well in making an easy install and appears to be doing the job. Since it's only been in for two months, I can't claim I know about its longevity.
