I read recently about a new furnace that was developed in Canada called the Matrix. It also combines a hot water heater in the unit.

It is supposed to be the most energy efficient furnace on the market.

I have contacted the California rep, but been frustrated in finding anyone with any experience installing it and/or living with it.

We are planning a new furnace and ductwork (attic) installation this year in a 1200 sq. ft. rancher just south of San Francisco.

Instead of just going with a replacement we want to consider efficiency to go easier on the planet.

Does it make sense to install a system that is so state of the art here where the climate is temperate?

I would appreciate any insights.

Welcome Pderas:
I am not familiar with the brand but I have seen others that heat the water and act as a furnace. I have heard nothing but glowing reports about them.

Ooh. You mean there are MORE?
Can you give me any leads?
Where do I look?
Who is giving glowing reports?
I get all the remodeling mags and haven't seen anything about them.
I'm a kitchen & bath designer so it IS a bit out of my area...
Thanks for your reply glennjanie!
