I posted this thought before, but I am convinced there is a large possibility of refurbishing attic exhaust fans easily for a few dollars rather than throwing all these motors into landfills. I have taken several apart after they froze and nothing is wrong except the oily packing around the motor shaft is too dry or has broken down. It appears to be a substance like crumbled felt soaked in oil. It would take 2 minutes to replace once the motor is apart. I don't want to shut down the manufacture of these, but recycle the motors at least once. Anyone have any idea how I can find out what this material could be? Local motor repair company doesn't want to deal with this. I just want to try this once-any help would be appreciated. Thanks, fixitdude
