Maybe a new furnace pro for some different options??
Sounds like there is something in the propane...is the drip leg full of water?

I can't help to much...but propane is a serious problem if not fixed.
Good luck.

Welcome Mike:
On the face of the burners there is an air adjustment shutter with a screw to hold it on setting. You can loosen the screw and turn the shutter until the burner shows a nice blue flame with no smoke then retighten the screw. Another possibility is a dirty orifice in the center of the burner. Take the orifices out and clean all of them with the correct size wire cleaner or a drill bit of specific size. The LP gas place will have the wires or bits. The bits for this have a hex end on them and can be turned with your fingers.
Please let us know how it turns out.
Glenn
