Can anyone offer advice on extending a 6 x 6 post about 6 to 10 inches?
I'm doing this so I can then place a horizontal support across the extended post to a new 6 x 6 post and then to a wall to create a support for a sliding fence door. The post I'm trying to extend is the corner post of a fence.
The sliding door has an upper rail that usually bolts on to a wall but in this case it will probably be a 2 x 6 or two of them together.
There are some brackets I've seen for attaching posts to the ground but I have no experience using them so I'd like some your opinions.
Thanks!
