OK, Long story short. Have a receptacle in the kitchen with the reset switch. It burned out a long time back and melted the plastic housing. Put a new one in and wired it the same way, now two outlet to the left of it do not work (although they test for 110v on a cheap power tester) and one outlet to the right does not work.

I replaced with a GFCI, but not sure if that is the one I should be using. The receptacle has two sets of black and white whites wires, with a common ground.

Any help, before I call a electrician?? I am pretty versed with handy man work, so want to do this myself if possible.

The white wire should be pigtailed together with a short wire to the outlet. The black wire that is live when the breaker is on goes to the screw marked line. The other black wire goes to screw marked load.
