Default old hardwood floors

Ok so I just moved into a new place and in one room they put in vinyl stick on flooring but they put two caps on, one on top of the other. I would like to take off the vinyl and re stain n varnish the wood flooring but does anyone know what would b a good way to remove the adhesive? I saw that sanding would take long so is there a faster way?

If you are going to re-stain and finnish, you will have to sand anyway.

Yeah, there isn't going to be any quicker way. Definitely sand it.
