Default sun bleached wall

My interior, bare, untreated cedar walls show where pictures and such hung because of bleaching by the sun.

Short of just painting them, is there any remedy? These are beautiful 30 year old hand selected cedar boards. I seems like with a stain you would have the same situation, just darker.

Suggestions would be most welcome.

Sanding the surface down to the fresh wood would be the only cure.
Yes, the stain would show the difference as it is.

Welcome to the forum!
