Default FIP connect to PVC

Trying to fix a leak on the low drain line of my travel trailer.

I bought a connector piece (one end is pex slip on and the other is FIP). Can I use a cap made of PVC to connect to the PVC? PVC is cheaper instead of the brass they carry.

Just a few bucks but I post to gain knowledge.
