Default Layers of flooring

Greetings! my wife and I are planning to remodel our kitchen. Our house is a 1929 1.5 story Tudor-style in South Minneapolis, Minnesota. We haven't decided what flooring we are going to go with but we are considering bamboo or a hardwood.

My question is; how do I deal with the potential hazards of the existing layers of flooring? Please see the attached image; the existing top layer is linoleum, then a layer of plywood (roughly 1/8") then what appears to be really old tile, probably containing asbestos or glued down with an asbestos glue.

My gut feeling is to try to pull the existing linoleum off of the plywood and then put the new flooring on top of that, but I don't know how secured down it is.

You should take samples of everything and have it tested before you make decisions on what to do.

Take the linoleum and the luon up with roof shovel. The P&S might be asbestos so test that.

It would be ideal to just Finnish the original hardwood.
