Default Tub surround and water resistant walls

What are simple step by step on redoing your bathroom walls with ceramic tiles. But how should the surrounding walls be made water resistant first?

YTour questions are a bit scattered and you have had some responces already. It would be better if you told us what decisions you have made and what you want to do. In other words, you start the plan and we can help you with corrections or aproval.
