I was working in a wast management building last week where temps in the building reached extreme highs. I had 6 employees working on it as I was doing some exterior work and didn't actually go up to where my painters were working other than setting them up in the morning cool temps. by 3 or so I was finished with what I was doing and went to help them. wow, within mins my shirt was soaked and sweet was dripping from my head. I didn't take into account that the area my crew was working in was extremely hotter than where i was working. I am lucky every one walked out ok and there were no serious threats. if i had realized I would have had a talk with them, and had 4 cases of water set up.
just wanted to give a reminder for yourself and your employees to keep safe, raise awareness and keep cool as we face extreme weather conditions.
here is California osha heat program to help raise safety practices in high heats.
