Default What's the difference?

OK, I understand there is interior and exterior paint. Yeah, one may smell more with their VOC's, but who said I need to use interior paint for the interior, and exterior paint for the exterior? is this just a marketing scheme?

Please explain why or why not....

No it is not a scheme, exterior paints have additional additives to deal with the the elements of continuous moisture and constant sunlight.

The exterior paint is formulated with all the mild-asides and a thicker body that are need to protect the outside the outside of structures. From weathering. The interior products will not hold up outside. They brake down very fast under the elements. Tested and confirmed. Paints not just paint anymore. You need to know what is for what and why. But if you want use some interior paint outside the worst that can happen is you will be redoing it in about six months.

That is good enough reason not to use it, I guess.

Then again, what item these days doesn't cause cancer?

Interior paints are formulated to resist scrubbing cleaning and
exterior paints are formulated to prevent fading and mildew. It is important to use the correct type of paint for your application.

Interior and exterior paints often use different resins to bind the pigment to the painted surface. Exterior paints are highly durable with great resistance to peeling. Interior paints are not exposed to huge temperature changes or excessive moisture so the resins used to bind the paint to the wall can be more rigid.
