Default Kitchen cabinet painting

What is the preferred type of paint for kitchen and bathroom cabinets?

Flat? Eggshell? Satin? Semi-gloss? Gloss?

Semi gloss is probably the most common. I do see satin from time to time, it doesn't seen to hold up as well. And it's not as washable.

Thank you guys. I just went out and purchased a gallon of semi-gloss...with the built in primer. Let's see how that stuff works.

I would go with semi/gloss dependent upon the brand of paint you went with since brand sheen varies.

That sounds plausible. I can only imagine every brand has its own amount of sheen.
