Default how to put a decoratie pattern on the wall

I am going through a houzz.com design and will be painting some large size decorative pattern. I am not talking about repetitive pattern that you roll onto the wall.

However I am not sure how to do it.

- Use a custom cut masking tape? Does not look like a plausible.

- Next thing I have in mind is draw the pattern on the wall with light pencil and meticlously use the ultra fine brush to do.

OR any other suggestion, please let me know.

In the 50s there was a kids toy that would show a photo on the wall, it was perfect for this kind of thing. It was just a black box open on the bottom with a light, a mirror and a lens and you just set it over the photo. I haven't seen one for years.

I see, that projector sounds pretty good no need to touch the wall with pencil. i guess i will have to decide between hi and low tech approach now.

If you have a full size pattern there are other tricks.
1 pin the pattern to the wall and place graphite paper behind it and sharpen a stick to trace the picture leaving fine lines on the wall
2 pin the pattern to the wall and with a pin poke little holes thru the pattern leaving little holes in the wall to follow with paint.
