So in my mountain house I recently installed new oak kitchen cabinets. and like the idiot I am I decided to float my counters in before staining and coating the cabinets. Well some of the cement liquid from the float ran down the side and front of one of my cabinets. After it was dry and wiped away it left an almost black stain. This stain wont come off with a wet sponge and I sanded some but it seems to be deep. Did I screw myself and now have to paint them or is there anything besides sanding that could possibly clean this stuff off?

Oak and iron water will turn black.

Any water with iron in. Could be from rusty nails or iron content from source.

try some iron-on oak veneer before you paint the cabinet. Lowes usually carries it, or else get it from any woodworking catalog.Iron -on is the easiest, but you could use any other way of applying a different type of veneer

The iron in the water reacted with the tannins in the oak.Try to bleach it out with some oxalic acid.Any big box store should have some.
