I love a huge masterbedroom, very important to me because I spend most of my time there. If I owned a 4 bedroom and converted it into a 3 bedroom by taking out the wall of the adhacent room to the master, would that hurt the value of my house much?

And would the costs of doing so be expensive.

I am new at this house game, so any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Welcome Cissiro:
Making the change would narrow your market by up to 15% but hey, you never know, the first person who looks at the house might love it and buy right away.
As far as the cost; it shouldn't be too exhorbitant as long as the wall to be removed is not a load bearing wall. If it is in the center of the house and paralell to the direction your ridge runs there is a good chance of that.
The next thing to do is contact 3 contractors and ask for competitive bids. Then you know exactly what can be done.
