Default West Virginia Coal Miners

Just a note to say that Canadians hearts and minds are with the friends and families of the 25 dead and 4 missing coal miners trapped 440 feet below ground level at the Upper Big Branch Coal Mine in West Virginia.

CBC News - World - W. Virginia rescue crews drill into mine

They are trying to drill down into the mine to allow flammable gasses like methane and carbon monoxide to vent out before rescuers can enter the mine to see if anyone made it into the safety shelters down there.

You are right Nestor, definitely a tragedy. Coal mining has got to be one of the most difficult occupations and when something goes wrong it goes bad in a big way. Maybe they can find the last 4 alive. We can only hope and pray.
