Siding before gable roof

When its time to build the gable, remove the siding with a zip tool. Then you can get back to the outside wall and properly weather seal the flashing.

Draw out where the roof will go and place 2x4 rafters against the wall Then place a 2x6 above that all with screws so they can be removed. Cut the house wrap just above the 2x6 and insert house wrap to cover both and a Z flashing behind the house wrap and over the 2x6. then the J trim above that..
When you build the roof remove the 2x6 to add the step flashing and replace with trim wood when done.
When you do the siding below cut the house wrap ant the bottom of the 2x4 and insert some flat stock to cover the lower J trim. The flat stock can be removed later.

He should write his plan in stone.
Buffalo, if you are still planing on the shed roof too, it takes some figuring to get the right height for the gutters to match especially when you have two different pitches.

I'm ditching the shed roof idea , just gonna do a gable over the door .

But you are going to change out the skirt over the window?
That window is an issue . I will replace it at some point , but I'm ignoring it for now
