Someone I know is planning to install a basement bathroom. Problem is, the sewer line is about 2 feet above the floor. The line cannot be lowered. So, what are some options of connecting the drains from a toilet and sink, and possibly a shower to that line?

I would install a sump pitt and sump pump. It is a very bad idea to have no floor drain in the basement . sooner or later every one has a flood.

Two different systems . If you need a floor drain you have two sumps.

I think there actually is a floor drain. However, all of the house plumbing is connected to something else.

As per the plumbing code the floor drain is part for the sanitary system and not the clear water sump pump. Just to clarify.

We do have a trapped drain in the floor to catch water from a failing water heater kind of spill, that can be run to the ejector pump but not flood water.
Just call the city where you live.
