Hello all,
Yesterday night was terrible for me. While coming back from work, I lost my key somewhere and, I didn't have any spare key with me. I only realized it after I reached my home. It was pit dark and cold and, I had to stand outside my own house for hours until I could find someone in our area. I am still tired because of a terrible night I had yesterday. So, I thought of asking you guys about where you guys keep your keys? What would you do if you lost them? For a moment, I thought of breaking into the house lol. Any suggestions on where to keep the keys safely? How many of you keep them in the car, or under the flower base back at home?

We got a digital lock set for Christmas a couple years ago. We just punch in a number. All I have to worry about loosing now is my mind and forgetting my birthday or was it her birthday we used as a code.

We have a keypad on the garage door. I also bunk a key in our outside electrical panel under the meter. I keep a small combination lock on the panel.

How reliable are digital locks? Are they good enough to withstand harsh weather?

Do you really need anything fancy? We tape one up in plastic and keep it under a rock. Unless the burglars in your neighborhood are also obsessive rock-handlers, you ought to be OK.

Hey guys.
Would you mind adding addresses and so to your replies. (Additional info, like codes, birthdays, etc. would be really appreciated)

Ours works fine and we live in one of the harshest areas in the country. Most years we are in the running for the greatest snowfall in the country and we get temps as low as –30’s at least a few times every winter. There is still a key that can be used.

They also sell a non-digital door lock so you don't have to rely on a working battery.

Considering how many rocks there are around our place, you're welcome to come by and see if you can find the key. Please just put the other 10,000 back like you found them—thanks!
