Is this gas line connection safe?

Recently bought a gas dryer of Facebook market and the connection on back of dryer is not the same as my old one. So went to menards and bought a gas line kit... As you guys can see in the picture , is it ok and safe to connect the gas line to where I marked the red circle?

That would depend upon the fitting you are going to connect to it.

There are three types of connections, pipe thred, compression and flare, and that fitting represents the male end of a flare fitting.

What isn't obvious is any type of thred sealant.

Thanks, that's how it's done, however.

When you push the appliance into place you'll likely create a 90 degree bend in the flex line, and because you will be venting the appliance with 4" galv. material the bend may not be that drastic.To avoid this you can remove the flex hose, the fitting and, using pipe joint compound, install a 1/2" galv. street 90, the removed fitting and the flex connector.This give you the versatility of pointing the fitting anywhere in a 180 degree circle, and virtually eliminates the bend.

In my neck of the woods, black pipe not galv. would be required.

I think the Galv. Snooyb was referring to was the vent pipe.

It's actually both, and the reason for the galv. street 90 is because a black iron fitting may be hard to find.

As far as black pipe versus galvanized pipe, black pipe is normally used for gas because of lower cost but galvanized is not prohibited as far as I am aware.
