A couple of days ago, I noticed water in several areas of my carpet.

My apartment was built in the 1980s.

I did some investigating and opened up the area where the air filter is.

Water was dripping from above onto the floor of where the filter was mounted.

I left a message for my apartment manager.

She called a carpet company to do a water extraction.

The guy did some cuts on my carpet are removed the wet padding.

He said he would be back in a couple of days.

I decided to peel back the carpet to see how the "carpet drying was going."

Not so good.

So, I left the carpet peeled back and used my fans to speed up the drying.

I feel an obligation to minimize damage, even if I did not cause it.

I am very welcome to any positive responses.

Very best,

Andy

Did they find out why there was water there in the first place?
The condensate drain may be plugged up.

Does your landlord do regular maintenance on the HVAC system? Drain lines have a habit of getting plugged up with algae growth or some green slime. They should be replacing filters every few months and clearing the drain line out annually.
