I hope it's not true for new stuff. No sane cook wants to use an electric stove.

I would LOVE to have an induction cook top. They boil water amazingly fast, have a 99% or so efficiency, can be cleaned easily, and you can put your hand on them, immediately after removing the pot, with no issues. By contrast, our propane cook top takes forever to boil water and is a real pain to clean.

because Pres. Trump insisted that USA become self sufficient on energy, but Pres. Biden has already taken steps to quickly end that.

That's not really true. The pandemic has caused the oil market to be obliterated. What this means is that things like fracking are no longer cheap enough to be a competitor. That means the US cannot be self sufficient, at least in the short term.

Biden is also more focused on things like renewable energy sources and small nuclear power plants.

Let's face it, there's no perfect plan. Growing up in BFE PA, I saw the devastation caused by coal strip mining and other coal mining. I remember Pittsburgh back when it was the "steel city" and sooty and dark and smelly. Not sure I want to go back to that. On the other hand, I feel for those people in those areas, particularly as to jobs. If coal and fracking and manufacturing aren't there, what do people do? I don't know.

And the transition into renewable energy will take a while, and create its own associated costs.

Yeah, I know a lot of people love those. I've used electric, but never an induction stove. Most of the cooks I know prefer gas for most cooking. Boiling water is another thing: I use an electric kettle for that.

Electric is much safer than gas... get anything near that gas flame and it catches fire... plus the gas explosion hazard...

As for safety, I really don't know as I haven't seen statistics. One thing about gas is that when the power goes out, my water heater, stove and furnace still work.
